Yard inventory and dock door visibility
See which trailers and containers are in your yard, where they're located, and their current status. Teams can also track which dock doors are open, occupied, or unavailable.
Yard Tasks and move management
Create and assign work for yard moves, inspections, maintenance, repairs, and other operational activities. Yard drivers can access tasks from a phone or tablet, complete the work, and automatically update asset locations in the YMS.
Inventory and operational checks
Run checks across individual assets, dock doors, parking spots, or entire yard areas. Teams can verify asset locations, record seal numbers, capture photos, perform temperature or weight checks, and flag missing equipment.
Task and activity history
Opendock records asset updates, yard moves, task ownership, and completion activity so teams have a history of what happened across the yard.
What's coming next
Automated drop-and-hook workflows
Opendock is building toward a more hands-off drop-and-hook experience, particularly for after-hours operations. Drivers will be able to arrive, identify what they're dropping off or picking up, receive instructions, complete the move, and check out while the YMS updates the activity.
The goal is for teams arriving the next morning to immediately see what came in, where it was dropped, what left, and whether everything happened according to plan.
Preload appointments
Teams will be able to reserve dock capacity to preload or unload an asset before its scheduled pickup. Preload appointments can connect the preparation work with the pickup appointment while keeping both visible against dock capacity.
Dependent tasks
Multi-step yard activities will be able to follow a defined sequence. For example, a trailer could move to a dock, get loaded, complete an inspection, and then move to a staging area, with each task becoming available as the previous step is completed.
Building toward an automated yard
Opendock's longer-term direction is to connect individual tasks into workflows that require less manual coordination.
Instead of recreating the same process every time a trailer needs to be prepared for pickup, teams could define what "ready for pickup" means for their operation. Opendock could then help coordinate the required moves, loading activities, inspections, and carrier notifications.
AI could take that a step further by helping teams apply their operational rules automatically. For example, when a pickup appointment appears, AI could help identify the right asset, determine when to preload it without disrupting existing appointments, and coordinate the tasks required to get it ready.
The goal isn't to remove operational control. It's to reduce the repetitive work required to execute the same rules across the yard every day.
